Sport
It is important that all student’s at Ingleburn Public School experience physical activity in a safe and supportive environment to encourage their lifelong enjoyment and participation in regular physical activity. Sport is an important part of the school curriculum, which contributes to the development of the whole child. It provides an opportunity for each student to become involved in physical activity, which has many benefits. These benefits are diverse and comprise of higher levels of fitness, better health, the development of fundamental movement skills, satisfaction derived from skilled performance, pleasurable social involvement and the opportunity to work cooperatively as part of a team.
All students take part in fitness activities each week as part of the PDHPE curriculum. The students will be provided with the opportunity to develop fundamental movement and coordination skills including, balancing, skipping, hopping, kicking, throwing and catching, walking, running and games.
Primary
All students in Years 3-6 will be given the opportunity to try out for inter-school competitive sport teams which will compete in the Fields Zone P.S.S.A competition. The students will compete in approximately 2 Gala Days each term.
Summer competition is held in Terms 1 and 2. The sports played are Basketball, Cricket, Oz Tag, Soft Ball and T-Ball
Winter competition is held in Terms 3 and 4. The Sports played are AFL, Hockey, Netball, Newcombe Ball, Rugby League and Soccer.
Students who are selected in a P.S.S.A sport team will receive coaching each Friday afternoon from 1. 10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m., except on Gala Days. Students chosen in a P.S.S.A team will be required to pay a $5 equipment levy also a fee to cover the cost of transport to attend each Gala Day. This will be set at the beginning of each competition.
Students will abide by The Fields Zone P.S.S.A code of behaviour, which will be signed by parents and students.
Students who are not selected in a PSSA team will take part sport at school. They will be given the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of sports and participate in non-competitive and competitive games. School sport will take place on Friday afternoons from 1:10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m., for Years 3-6.
Carnivals are organised annually in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnival.
The most successful participants in all sporting activities have the opportunity to compete in sporting competitions and carnivals conducted by the NSW PSSA.
Kindergarten:
Kindergarten students will participate in sporting activities during terms 2, 3 and 4.
Years 1 and 2:
Students in Years 1 and 2 will participate in sporting activities in terms 1, 2, 3, and 4. Students will be provided with the opportunity to further develop their gross motor skills building on the skills developed the previous year.
Infants take part in an Athletics Carnival
On Monday 30 January students in Year 1-6 returned to school. Kindergarten students will commence at 9.30am on Friday 3 Feburary in the hall.
The staff of Ingleburn Public School would like to welcome back returning students and extend a special welcome to all new students and families.
